Alexis Charles, coordinator of cultural variety packages in Pupil Expertise and an advocate for neighborhood and inclusion, has gained this 12 months’s Marilyn Langlois Student Affairs Staff Recognition Award.
Introduced yearly by the Workplace of the Vice-Provost (Pupil Affairs), the award acknowledges people for professionalism and excellence of their help of scholars, employees, school and neighborhood companions.
Nominators stated Charles goes past expectations in her work to create an inclusive and various neighborhood for Black and racialized college students, school and employees. She is the lead employees member for Black Historical past Month programming on campus and is co-founder and co-chair of the Black School and Employees Community.
She has created strong program choices for Black and racialized college students and collaborated with many campus companions on cultural and academic programming for the neighborhood.
Congratulating Charles for her award, Irene Thompson, interim vice-provost (pupil affairs), stated, “Alexis’s unwavering dedication to professionalism and distinctive help for college kids, employees, school and neighborhood companions is actually exceptional. She embodies the spirit of excellence and most actually goes above and past to make a distinction.
“I’m grateful for her excellent contributions to our neighborhood, and I’m hopeful that her distinctive work will proceed to encourage us all.”
