Dec 15 (Reuters) – UK’s competitors watchdog on Thursday cleared Swiss chemical substances agency Sika AG (SIKA.S) and Germany-based MBCC Group’s 4.5 billion pound ($5.57 billion) merger after they agreed to promote part of the enterprise to handle competitors considerations.
The businesses proposed to promote MBCC’s chemical admixtures enterprise in Europe, UK and several other different international locations, making certain that the deal wouldn’t hurt the UK building trade by lowering high quality and growing costs, the Competitors and Markets Authority (CMA) stated.
The CMA’s inquiry into Sika’s acquisition of MBCC, the previous BASF Building Chemical substances enterprise, in November final yr had delayed the completion of the deal to the primary half of 2023.
In October, the events requested the CMA to fast-track the case.
Regulators in Australia, Britain, Europe, New Zealand and North America have requested Sika to promote a part of the admixtures enterprise to fulfill competitors considerations.
